Hello, GLOBE Parents:
Finally, I am getting to creating a Web-page for the Music Department!
Let me tell you a little about what we have been doing, and what we are doing in classes right now.
Kindergarten and 1st graders are learning Spring songs, and are
enjoying some dramatic movement with colored scarves and large
Butterflys and other insects. We'll be adding some tone-bar instrument
work with that later this week.
2nd graders have been working on using our new-found Music reading
skills, locating a few notes on the 5-line Treble staff. We are also
working on learning a couple of songs that deal with caring for our
planet, as well as just reviewing of some of their favorite Spring
songs.
In 3rd grade, we are now focusing on playing short simple melodies on
the Tone-bar instruments, using staff notation with rhythmic notation.
4th grade is getting to do more complex multi-part arrangements of more
simple tunes, with Tone-bars doing more that one different part at the
same time.
5th and 6th are taking the Tone-bars even further, and we'll be adding
some advanced Recorder players to arrangements with more like 5-6
separate instrument parts. Making them all fit together is a challenge,
but they are ready to try that now. 6th grade is also working on
choosing a song or two to share at their Graduation ceremony.
